Dental Anxiety is Real And You Don't Have to White-Knuckle Through It
Dental anxiety keeps many people from getting the care they need. Whether it's fear, past negative experiences, a sensitive gag reflex, or general nervousness, oral sedation can help you feel calm, relaxed, and comfortable throughout your visit. Many patients describe the experience as feeling like a light nap and remember little of the appointment afterward.
At Seven Bridges Dental Studio, your comfort isn't just a feature. It's a core part of everything we do. Oral sedation is one of the most powerful tools we have to ensure that every patient, regardless of their history with dentistry, can access the care they need without fear, stress, or discomfort.

What is Oral Sedation?
Oral sedation is a form of conscious sedation in which a prescribed oral medication is taken before your dental appointment to induce a deeply relaxed, drowsy, and anxiety-free state. Unlike general anesthesia, oral sedation does not render you unconscious. You remain awake and able to respond to Dr. Querishi's instructions throughout the procedure. However, the sedative effect is profound enough that most patients feel little to no awareness of what is happening during treatment, and many have minimal or no memory of the appointment afterward.
This combination, conscious but deeply relaxed, responsive but completely at ease, makes oral sedation ideal for patients with moderate to severe dental anxiety, those undergoing longer or more complex procedures, and patients with a low pain threshold, a strong gag reflex, or difficulty sitting still for extended periods.
How it works
Dr. Querishi prescribes your sedation medication prior to your appointment. You take the medication approximately one hour before your scheduled visit, at home or just before arriving at our Woodridge office and by the time your appointment begins, you are in a calm, deeply relaxed state. Local anesthesia is still administered for pain control during the procedure, the oral sedation addresses anxiety and awareness, while the local anesthetic ensures you feel no pain.
Because oral sedation significantly impairs your coordination and judgment, you will need a responsible adult to drive you to and from your appointment and remain available for the rest of the day.

- Sensitive Gag Reflex – Makes dental procedures more comfortable and easier to complete.
- Low Pain Tolerance – Reduces awareness of discomfort and promotes a more pleasant experience.
- Difficulty Sitting Still – Encourages relaxation for patients with restlessness, anxiety, or physical discomfort.
- Extensive Treatment Needs – Allows multiple procedures to be completed in fewer appointments.
- Avoided Dental Care – Helps patients overcome fear and comfortably return to routine dental treatment.
